Internship in Machining Techniques Optimization
During my internship at General Electric Healthcare, I worked on precision machining. I operated advanced CNC machines and ensured components met high-quality standards for the healthcare industry. This hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology deepened my understanding of precision engineering's vital role in producing reliable medical devices. My time at GE Healthcare significantly enhanced my technical skills, preparing me for a future career in this field.
Objective
My primary objective during my internship at General Electric Healthcare was to convert an existing G-code into a machining program using Creo NC. This task required translating precise numerical control instructions into a format compatible with Creo NC's advanced programming tools. The conversion needed to ensure that the new instructions maintained the accuracy and efficiency of the original machining paths while making future modifications and adjustments easier.
Actions
To achieve this objective, I undertook several specific actions. First, I analyzed and extracted the cutting conditions and tool paths from the initial G-code. This step was crucial for understanding the parameters of the original machining process and accurately reproducing them in the new program. Next, I selected the appropriate Creo NC functions that could best approximate the existing tool paths. This involved adjusting cutting parameters and optimizing tool paths to ensure optimal machining performance. Finally, I tested and validated the program to ensure it met GE Healthcare’s stringent quality and precision standards.
Result
The result of this work was the creation of an easily modifiable machining program, allowing for quick and precise adjustments based on production needs. Additionally, I designed 3D parts using Creo Parametric and corrected machining defects. These additional tasks enriched my experience, providing a deeper understanding of computer-aided design and manufacturing processes. This enhanced my technical skills and my ability to solve complex problems in a high-tech environment.
